juliel5945: An insult disguised as a joke is still an insult.
ksmith96: ' Not all black sheep are lost, some are just done with wolves in sweaters. '
Bars.
LizbethGerow: he was SMART!! NEVER tell your family how much money you have, no matter how ""nice"" they are.
kobeykitty1311: Sometimes it's better to walk away from a toxic family.
It's a breath of fresh air and a renewed sense of self.
Terri-vg3us: You did what you had to do in order to move on , live your life and be happy. No one needs to deal with families like yours. Live for you, no one else.
ToPlease: It's Always funny when family insults you and then says "ohh just kidding".
RedditFamilySagas: It’s funny how in almost every story, people refuse to take responsibility for their actions. When will they learn?
-sstevens5444: Walking away doesn't change the hurt that accompanies remembering. Because you always remember.
debbiemcconnaughay3823: I don't know why i clicked on this video to watch it other than my gut said I should. I am glad I watched it for two reasons. The first and biggest reason is I needed to hear the message of the story. The second reason is it gave me confirmation that I am doing the right thing by making choices based off what's best for me and my mental and emotional health thank you so much.
RevengeUnraveled11: Man, your story hit me hard. I’ve been there—paying for everything, hoping they’d finally see me, only to get slapped with a label like that. For me, it was my brother’s wedding. I covered the venue, the catering, even the damn cake, and my mom still introduced me as ‘the one who’s too busy to care.’ I didn’t tear up papers, but I walked out mid-toast, left the gift on the table, and didn’t look back. They called too, eventually, but by then I was just… done. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Giving everything and still being the punchline. I feel you on that bone-deep tiredness. Glad you got out.
helenstravis3834: A joke isn't a joke if it hurts someone, if it's really a joke everyone should be able to laugh at it.
redditdramataleba: Man... that hit me right in the feels. Reminds me of my own family, you know? Sipping this beer, watching this... tough stuff. Proud of the guy, though. Really proud. Good for him. Yeah, good for him. *takes a long swig of beer
stephenhall5410: Joke or not, family didn't respect his feelings after doing so much for them. And now, they've lost a son/brother and the sweet lives that they could have had.
tombelin2295: Sad story, OP never understood you can’t buy respect or love! He needed to flip the script learn to be cold and dismissive while making them work for his attention and favor!
glenschoenauer7980: It's amazing how every time people fight back in these situations they use the mentally unstable defence like It's a page out of the HR playbook from Harvard and Vale Business Schools
PiedadBotero-b4g: Why are the images show nothing but cooking? This story is amazing! The man definitely deserves a better family, and TONS of recognition and praise. Thank you
ThomasWLalor: Been there, done that, through it all. Dysfunctional family need not be included / rewarded / tolerated. A lifelong structure of emotional abuse justifies severing of ties with that anchorage. Be strong, be yourself, and make your own future. GOOD LUCK, FRANK (OP)
BarbaraGricus: My family should have named me Afterthought. The disappointing daughter competing with the Princely Brother. I could never
mariachivers2503: Fantastic story. Many thanks.
2angies19: That t- shirt was just CRUEL.
soco13466: These stories of a family being bankrolled seem to be written by someone in a country where these things happen. If this is supposed to be about an American family, author doesn't know that it's not a normal thing here. Usually the parents are the ones with money, kids being helped, not the other way around.
MrNevadaSam: You didn’t go far enough, now never look back and hold your head up high
linl5338: Leaving was smart, healthy, necessary.
adammartinez7382: Good For You My Brother, Now Go Live Your Life And Be Happy. I'm Happy I Clicked On This Story. That's The Reality We Live In, Some People Are Horrible.
Duchesscarml: You cleaned house. No one should be allowed to make you feel less than enough simply for being you. If you're not good enough for them at your worse, then why should they have you at your beet? Sometimes, walking away is the only option... for you and them.
kenarbes: I've heard it said that when someone shows you who they are, believe them. OP's family showed him all his life who they were. He finally believed them and walked away.
jodydulyk9843: I'll never forget the day my mom asked me why she ended up with 2 disappointments for kids when most people who had 2 kids usually only had one. And I still hear it in my head every day and she was not joking :(
